Orienteering Overseas

Come along and here what its like to orienteer overseas. From Australia to Europe and places in between.  Al and Jean Cory-Wright will have will lead off with some tales and pictures of some of their many overseas orienteering adventures. Other members are also welcome to contribute their experiences. If you have some experiences you would like to share, please do bring them along.

Notice of PAPO Special General Meeting

A Special General Meeting will be held on 26th October at 7:30 PROMPTLY (prior to the social night) to consider the following motion put by our President, Richard Smith:

That PAPO's financial year be moved from a 1 Jan-31 Dec year to a 1 Jul-30 Jun year.

To transition to a year end of 30-Jun the following will be done:
1. PAPO to have a 6 month financial year for 2017 (1 Jan 2017 to 30 Jun 2017)
2. Membership fees for 2017 would be 1/2 annual fee and cover the period 1 Jan 2017 to 30 Jun 2017. These would be payable in Feb 2017.
3. Members will than pay a full annual fee in Jul 2017 for the period 1 Jul 2017 to 30 Jun 2018 to bring inline with the new financial year.
4. There would still be an AGM in February 2017, where the accounts for the 2016 year are presented, and another in August 2017, where the accounts for Jan-Jun 2017 period are presented.

5. There will be an election for club officers and committee at both the Feb 2017 and Aug 2017 AGM's.

Background: The current financial year end of 31 Dec puts a great burden on the treasurer at what is a busy time of year and is a time when many people are away. Moving to a year end of 31 Jul is a quieter time of year. It is still clear of any major events in the orienteering calendar.
The AGM, traditionally held in February, would be moved to Aug. The constitution stipulates that there must be an AGM in each calendar year, but does not stipulate when this must occur.
