According to Buckingham Palace sources, three days of orienteering is a perfectly respectable way to spend the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend. Enjoy some of the best terrain Canterbury has to offer, with a sprint on Saturday afternoon, sprint relay on Saturday night followed by two day’s on our intricate sand dune maps at Woodend north of Christchurch. The weekend is sure to challenge your orienteering skills in every way and have have the press hotly debating what orienteering is all over again!
All competitors welcome, course options suitable for all ages and lineages.
The weekend includes the Inter-regional Schools Challenge, NZSS Orienteering Team trials and Canterbury Champs. It is also a National Orienteering League race for the elites and orienteering "Toffocrocy".

*Member fees apply to members of any orienteering club in the world.
**Family maximum for 2 Seniors and any number of Juniors normally resident at the same address.
All event fees are in NZ dollars and include GST.

Entries:
The Queens birthday weekend will be pre-entry for all events.
Entries are now closed: Entries closed at midnight 23 May 2021. There is no entry on the day, and no exceptions.

The SportIdent (SI) punching system will be used in all QB events with Si Air+ enabled. Both SI cards will be available for hire: regular cards at $3 per event, SIAC cards $6 per event.
See individual event pages for timings. All events will use pre-allocated start times.
The sprint will be held on Saturday afternoon, allowing competitors to fly into Christchurch on Saturday morning. The night sprint relay will start at 6pm.
High school students:
The grades or high school students are aligned to the Australian schools grades because the QB events are selection races for the NZ school teams to compete against the six Australian states and the Australian Capital Territory in October. To be available for selection, students must be at high school and enter the A grade as follows:

Younger students:
Grades for younger students are as below. Students at intermediate school age that are too old for W12A/M12A should enter the Junior girls/boys grade.
Students in these grades must run individually, for shadowed children or students in teams enter one of the recreation grades (see below).

Grades are in 10-year bands for over 40s. Shorter courses are available in AS grades including 21AS which can be run by juniors not wanting to run W20E/M20E.

To enter as a team, you will need one to hire one SI between the team. Enter the team captain and choose Hire SI; enter all other team members and enter 999 in the SI number box. Send an email to please email qb2021entries@gmail.com with the team name and list of team members.
If you have not run a red course before, we recommended you do not try your first red course at this event as all maps are very technical.
Night Sprint Relay grades:
There are no grades selected at entry time for the sprint relay, just enter the event and teams will be formed later. The sprint relay will be set at "Orange sprint" navigation difficulty, those that normally run white/yellow are welcome to enter and be shadowed by an adult.
