Orienteering Mapping Webinar and Practical Session
21 October 2025
Learn to map for Orienteering
Ever thought your Orienteering might improve if you learnt how mappers think?
Or wondered if your 3D to 2D visualisation skills were as good as they could be?
Or thought that making (very minor) changes to a map on which you are planning would save someone else a job?
Or just plain old wanted to make an O map of your local park for fun, or an event?
As well as Briana’s controllers evening mentioned in the last newsletter, PAPO will be holding a two part mapping course over the next few months. First up will be an evening webinar on Tuesday 4th November, 7:30pm - 8:30pm max (straight after the Hogsback OY) looking at what digital resources are available to obtain a base map, what software we use and why. This will be followed by a practical fieldwork session with hands on exercises and tutoring by experienced mappers from the club on Saturday 29th November at a time and place yet to be set. Please register your interest in attending at https://forms.gle/PfkpH8DdrA4yn2iNA by 9pm on Sunday 2nd November.
