NZ Secondary Schools orienteering champs 2026

Peninsula and Plains Orienteering Club is looking forward to welcoming all year 7-13 students from across New Zealand to the Canterbury region for the NZSS orienteering champs and NZSS rogaine champs. Join us and showcase your navigational skills, support your friends and create lasting memories in unique terrain.

All locations are within a 1-hour drive of Christchurch Airport.

NZ secondary schools orienteering champs:

• Thursday 16th July 2026 - NZSS orienteering Relay. Kairaki. 
  Mass start at 1pm. 
• Friday 17th July 2026 - NZSS orienteering Long Distance. Waikuku.
  Starts from 10.30am.
• Saturday 18th July 2026 -NZSS orienteering Sprint. Lincoln University.
  Starts from 10.30am.

NZ secondary schools rogaine champs:

• Sunday 19th July 2026 -NZSS rogaine champs. Port Hills (based at Victoria Park).
  3-hour rogaine for all ages. Mass start at 9.30am, finish by 12.30pm.

Embargoes:

An embargo is a restriction over specific dates, which prevents athletes accessing a competition area prior to the competition taking place.
These embargoes apply to all competitors and other persons, to avoid anyone gaining a competitive advantage through recent knowledge of the terrain. 
All athletes attending the NZ Secondary Schools’ Orienteering Championships (NZSSOC) must abide by these embargoes leading up to the events, and anyone breaching these will be noncompetitive at NZSSOC 2026.
