Start Times for Paramanui between 11am and 1pm. Course closure 2.30pm.

NOTE: First start is later than usual to allow for travel.

Directions to Paramanui


From the north:

  • Drive through Timaru. On the outskirts of town after coming down the hill, turn right into Beaconsfield Road.

  • Follow this for 13km. After the long straight, turn left into Holme Station Road.

  • Travel 1.1km (crossing the Pareora River) and then turn right into Pareora Gorge Road.

  • Follow this for 6.6km before turning left off the road up a farm driveway. Look for O signs.

  • Allow 2 hours 40 from Christchurch.


From the south:

  • Head towards Timaru. 3.7km after St Andrews (which is 13km before Timaru), turn left into Pareora River Road.

  • Follow this for 12km (heading towards Holme station corner), then turn left into Pareora Gorge Road.

  • Follow this for 6.6km before turning left off the road up a farm driveway. Look for O signs.

  • Allow 2 hours 40 from Dunedin.


From the west:

  • Navigate to Cave.

  • In the centre of Cave turn south into Elizabeth Street. (this eventually becomes Cannington St).

  • Travel 6km south of Cave before veering left into Pareora Gorge Road. Travel a further 9km before turning right off the road up a farm driveway. Look for O signs.

  • (Cave is a slightly faster option than Timaru for those coming from Christchurch (5 mins). Turn off SH1 after Temuka and head through Pleasant Point to Cave).


Sunday - Humpy Bumpy 


Sunday's OY 7 is on the Humpy Bumpy map (put on by Dunedin Orienteering club).

Start times are between 11.30am and 1.00pm. Course closure is 3.00pm sharp. There will be Long Red, Medium Red, Short Red, Orange, Yellow and White courses, all on waterproof paper. Bring a whistle and a watch.

This event is on farmland and no dogs are allowed.

General directions from the north:


  • Head south on SH1 and cross the Waitaki River. (70km from Paramanui)

  • 5km after the Waitaki Bridge, turn right into Seven Mile Road and drive through to Peebles.

  • Turn right onto the Duntroon Road and head west towards Duntroon.

  • After 22km turn off left (before Duntroon) on to the Livingtone-Duntroon Road.

  • Follow this for 7.5km and turn right into Earthquake Road.

  • Follow O Signs to the event.

  • The assembly area is in a paddock off Earthquake Road at E170.62608, S44.88478. Park as directed.
