In Memorium: Rob Wayne
03 April 2026

Club member Rob Wayne has died. He passed away last Thursday 26th March, following an unsurvivable brain bleed 2 days prior. The club extends its condolences to Ria, his wife, and to his son, David.
Rob began orienteering in the 1980's while at school in Auckland and was a frequent competitor at events around the country throughout the 1990's, winning at least 1 national title during that period. He joined PAPO over 25 years ago after moving to Christchurch and has attended many club events since, especially when son David picked up the sport. Rob graduated into the M60 ranks just last year.
A memorial service for Rob will be held next Wednesday 8th April, 2pm, at the Transitional Cathedral, in Hereford St, Christchurch.
Ria and David would love to see Rob's friends and fellow orienteers there. They suggest wearing something white if you'd like to, and ask you to bring a plate of something tasty.
