Heights of Winter Event Bulletin & entries extended

You have until Wednesday 10 June midnight to get your entry in. We have received several enquiries for late entry so are keeping entry open just a little longer - however we can’t guarantee there will be enough food for late entrants so get in quick!

The event Bulletin has been uploaded on the HOW home page. Please read and print and fill-in your indemnity form. Matt Scott as event planner and mapper has some last minute tips to add to the info in the Event Bulletin:

Some parts of the map are scrubby and many teams will find they need to do short sections of scrub - some of it is dense and bush lawyer / tātarāmoa and ongaonga are around. He recommends wearing tall socks or gaiters and mind that your pack doesn't get snagged in brush or obstacles.

Cliffs are very real - not all cliffs are on the map, but those that are marked are worth being very cautious around. Some cliff areas are marked as Out of Bounds for ecological and safety measures.

There are a few electric fences - treat them as 'on'. Most are remote fences (solar powered because boundary fences have been destroyed by slips) but you should be able to find an easy way around.

There is water on the course, but be prepared for long sections without.
