The Canterbury Champs are being held on Saturday 16th/Sunday 17 November at Boyle River in Lewis Pass – about 40 minutes’ drive west of Hanmer Springs. This is preceded by a Mountain Bike Orienteering event at Hanmer Springs on Friday 15 November.
The Friday MTB Orienteering has a great mix of single track and forest roads. The Sat/Sun events are in mature beech forest on river terraces with some rocks.
Event Overview:
Friday: MTB Orienteering at Hamner springs. Starts 11.30am-12.30pm. 90 minute score event (rogaine). Start/finish at Brooke Dawson park, Bath St, Hanmer Springs.
Saturday: Middle distance. Mass start at 10am for Red/Orange courses. White/Yellow starts any time 10am-12pm. Event start/finish near to the Boyle River Lodge.
Sunday: Middle distance chasing start. Your start time for the Sunday event will be based on your finish time from the Sat event. Event start/finish near to the Boyle River Lodge.
Flexible start arrangements are available at the Sat/Sun events for those sharing childcare duties or who do not want to join the mass/chasing start.
Event Fees:
Friday MTB Orienteering: $12 Adult, $6 Child. $30 Family. (club members).
Saturday: $20 Adult, $15 Junior, $5 Child, $50 Family (club members).
Sunday: $20 Adult, $15 Junior, $5 Child, $50 Family (club members).
Non member fees are the club member fees above plus $10 Adult/$5 Junior (per race).
For team entries, please create an individual entry for each team member that wants a map.

Accommodation:
Note: Accommodation for both lodge and camping are now BOTH FULLY BOOKED.
We have booked the lodge at Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre for the Friday and Saturday nights. In the lodge there are 6 dormitory rooms with bunks and some smaller rooms – sleeps 60+. A great kitchen and large dining room. You need to bring your own bedding, towels, food etc..
Accommodation now fully booked (both lodge and camping). Please fill in the emailed booking form and pay online to confirm your place.
Adults: $20/night,
Tertiary students: $15/night
School-age students: (aged 10+) $10/night
Camping: $10 per person/night
