Map Notes: Kakahu map is a high limestone ridge. It is mostly rough open grassland interspersed with complex limestone terrain, a patch of tall open kanuka forest, areas of shrubland/scrub, and a small area of thicker pine forest (not as open as Maunders). Parts of the map are steep. Please take great care on areas of steeper limestone, as the rock is very slippery. Also be careful around depressions, as there are a few small tomos (sinkholes). The whole area is saturated at present after recent heavy rain, so come prepared for soggy conditions. Shorter courses will avoid steep slippery areas.
