Double OY weekend of orienteering in the Canterbury high country. Tekapo on Saturday, Maunders on Sunday. Book you Saturday night accommodation in Tekapo for a great weekend of orienteering including the chance to run on the brand new Maunders map.

Maunders is a stunning wee patch of forest that has been right under our noses for a number of years. Mature conifers blanket the gentle slopes and old river terraces near Burkes Pass. The dense canopy blocks even the harshest of sunlight to the forest floor, so be prepared for twilight-style orienteering. A good network of tracks exists in the area to make you constantly question whether straight is the best choice, and a couple of denser forest blocks contribute to the route-choice challenges.

Courses: Standard OY courses (Red Long, Red Medium, Red Short, Orange, Yellow, White)

Please park on the wide grassy verge beside the road as directed by signage. The start, finish and registration will be a short walk into a clearing in the forest along a wide track. Bring your lunch and base yourself in the forest for the day. Please be very careful crossing the main road to get into the forest.

Signposted from SH8 from both directions.

Registration from: 9.30am

Start times: 10am-1pm

Course closure: 2.30pm
